“Don’t run away from me!” My sister screamed. “Please!” She grabbed me tightly. I managed to break away from her, and I fled.

“Stay away from me!” I shouted.

“Todd, please!” She shouted at me. “Let me explain!”

“I don’t want to hear your excuses!” I slammed my door, and crawled into my bed. I didn’t know what to do next. I reached for the phone and tried to dial 911, but I was so shaky and scared, I kept hitting 644.

She banged on the door, “Todd! Let me in!”

“Go away!” I screamed. Next thing I knew, she kicked the door down. She had a razor in one hand, and an empty bottle of whiskey in the other. I just lay still, but she ripped the cover from over my head. She touched me gently on my arm, but her cold hands felt like a shock.

“You don’t understand!” She cried. “I just had to get rid of the pain that was killing me inside.” She pulled up her sleeves and revealed some bloody slice marks.

“So you tried to get rid of the pain on the outside?” I asked, trying so hard to sound sarcastic. I showed it by giving her a smirk.

“Exactly.” She responded. My smirk faded.

“What’s with the alcohol?” I asked.

“It numbs the pain inside.”

I said nothing.

“Please don’t tell ANYONE ANYTHING! Promise?”

Again, I said nothing.
